Who I am

I'm David! (2002, Groningen).

A freelance interdisciplinary choreographer, performer and theatermaker based in Utrecht who graduated at the BA Dancer/Maker at ArtEZ in 2023.

Within a wide range of interests I work with improvisation, randomness, projection and text. I keep finding new ways to express myself. Working with ICK Artist Space, Het Houten Huis, Orpheus Theater, Korzo, Dans Brabant and others as both performer and creator.

Described by colleagues as someone with a triangle of humour floating around him like a halo.

He is whole like an egg, with attention to detail and the present.

Next to creating my own work I have broad knowledge and skills in supporting the creative works of others as a dancer, performer, outside eye and teacher.

In my dancing I like to play with rhythm, dynamics and humour. Using a specific way of moving, sometimes cut-up and broken down, sometimes smooth and soft, in which I combine many different styles and influences.

I love not knowing what I'm doing

I grew up in a small town called Barneveld (chickens and churches)

I realised life is very big and there is always something else, something new, something not yet discovered

I like to explore

In movement, in art, in people

I want to share what I find and take people with me

I see lines, shapes and directions everywhere

I wonder how random my actions are
